Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information

Virgin Media has confirmed it is in takeover talks that could lead to a bid from US cable company Liberty Global in the coming days.

. . .  and yet I still have documentation and passwords recorded under the heading Cable London and Telewest.

Maybe such a takeover would be a good thing for Virgin customers, of whom there are many in N8, especially if John Malone really does want to put one over on Rupert Murdoch (I am still continuing my one man boycott of satellite dishes).

But generally takeovers mean a striving a striving for 'synergy'  (i.e. some of the target company's staff get the sack) or rationalisation (i.e. some of the target company's staff get the sack) or other business buzzwords and subtle changes to t's and c's which generally remove protection from old established customers.
