Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information

The Meadow Orchard Project An urban meadow for the health of our community

A message to all members of The Meadow Orchard Project

Learn to scytheSunday October 16th, 10.30-4pm with trainer Claire White at The Meadow Orchard Project in Crouch End.

FREE BUT LIMITED NUMBER.

Book asap to Mary Hogan on mary6014@hotmail.com

People wanting refresher are welcome.

There will be lots of rests as we have 5 scythes and expect 12-14 people.

Those who learned scything at the Meadow last year loved it and said it was a meditative and very enjoyable exercise.

The reason for doing it is to preserve the grasslands habitat at the meadow. Only half of the Meadow needs to be done at a time. It is not a large area, but every bit of grass land is valuable as the UK has lost a shocking 97% of its grasslands since the 1970s (statistic from the Grasslands Trust). Our Meadow has 13 different grass types as well as flowering plants and feeds many insects and birds.

If you can't do Sunday 16th, there will be a follow-up session to finish off the scything with Kate Allardyce on Saturday 22nd 11-4pm so if you can come then, please book with me as above on mary6104@hotmail.com Come and join the Meditative Slashers (as the Hornsey Journal called last year's scythers in the Meadow!). The Meadow Orchard Project is at 151 Park Road, Crouch End. London N8 8JD
