Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information

Royal Mail Sorting Office move planned - from Tottenham Lane to Hornsey Road

Apparently the Royal Mail is planning to move its local Crouch End and Hornsey sorting office from Tottenham Lane to Hornsey Road. I have not found the source of this story but you can read it here in the press.

Obviously this will make the journey to collect undelivered packages a lot longer for most people in Crouch End and Hornsey. Its an immensely popular facility with queues out of the door every Saturday morning.

Maybe now is the time to make a fuss if we don't want this to happen.

I personally have a lot of sympathy for the Royal Mail - of all the mail delivery tasks walking those last few yards to every door is far and away the most difficult.

Royal Mail is planning to move or close offices in Haringey where local people can collect their parcels.

Lynne Featherstone and Haringey Liberal Democrats are fighting to keep these services local.

One of these sorting and delivery offices is the Hornsey office on Tottenham Lane which will close. The service currently provided there for people in the N8 area will move to another site on Hornsey Road in Holloway. This means people will have to travel further to pick up their undelivered parcels and registered post.

We the undersigned object to the moving of these services and call on Royal Mail to keep the service in Hornsey.
