A note from Susanna about the Hornsey Vale Community Centre

Hi All,

Firstly thanks for all the work you have been doing, writing letters and collecting petition signatures.  The campaign is definitely causing a bit of a stir - lots of councillor's are now raising the issue with Council Officers and Lynne Featherstone has also got involved.

Jon McGrath, Assistant Director for Corporate Property and Major Project for Haringey Council, will be meeting with Lynne (our chair) on Monday 30th March.  We understand the building review, and thereby our lease and rent funding agreement, falls under his remit.    We have had many assurances from various councillors that this meeting with be supportive of us - however, unless we are given a lease extension or a Letter of Intent we still have a lot of work to do!

At present we have just over 1000 signatures collected through the online and hard copy petition.  People have been great getting them but we are far off our 2,200 target to ensure that it is debated in the Council meeting.  The more signatures we have to show Jon McGrath on Monday the better.

Would anyone be willing to do a stint with the petition in Crouch End, Hornsey, Muswell Hill or Wood Green over the weekend to get members of the public to sign?  There are copies of the form in the small cupboard in the main foyer by the men's toilet, and also attached to this email.  Please do come in a get one and collect as many signatures as you can.  Please return these by Monday morning so we can show them in our meeting. 

We will let you know on Monday the outcome of the meeting and any next steps.
