Share your skills, time and passion – give an hour and earn an hour in return

A Timebank is where a group of
people exchange their time and skills without any money     changing hands. It’s totally free!      Everybody’s time is valued equally, so for every hour you give, you get an hour in return. It’s that simple. Your credit is banked and you can spend it as and when you like on other  members’ time and skills. In its most basic form, this is about neighbours helping each other

ROUND UP

5000 hours celebrated

Members came to Bruce Castle in December to celebrate 5000 hours of skill sharing and timebanking. We began the afternoon with a winter tree ID walk and learnt about opportunities to volunteer in this beautiful park.  We then had mulled wine and festive treats in the café area of the museum.

Lunches

Members lunches continue to be popular— with interesting speakers from Futureproof, Loan Sharks project, cancer awareness, benefit changes, energy saving advice and Credit Union.

If you would like to come along to one of our lunches to share information, or if there is a subject you would like to hear more about,  please get in touch.
The next lunches will be held on 7 April, 2 June and 7 July. There is no lunch on 5 May but see below for big lunch plans.

Big Lunch 2014
Following the success of our Big Lunch last year, we are planning an event for mid-May. How about a picnic in Bruce Castle Park or Alexandra Park?—with an alternative if the weather is wet! More details to follow.

The Big Kitty Knit
On Monday 17th March around a dozen of our members got together in Tottenham's Living room to join squares knitted by Jane to make blankets for the cats and kittens of Wood Green Animal Shelter.  A great time was had by everyone, so much so that we are planning a follow up session to complete the blankets plus a large activity blanket on Monday 14th April.  We will be at TLR (situated next door to 639 Enterprise Centre, High Road, Tottenham) again from 1.30-4.00

Pear Tree Pruning
Our pruning expert Ruth is returning to demonstrate pruning techniques on this lovely small pear tree. Come along to Winkfield Rd on Monday 24 March from 1030-1230. All tools supplied, no experience needed. Book a place today!

GREENBANK

Gardening Sessions at the Timebank Garden, N22
Sessions are planned for Wednesday 19th and 26th March initially.  Come along between 1.00-3.00 to help out with tidying up, light digging, weeding and sowing seeds.
Along with herbs and vegetables we want to make the garden into a haven for wildlife. We will be sowing bee friendly flowers and making bird boxes at a future session.

Requests for gardening help
Are you interested in offering your time to do some light gardening for those who can’t manage their gardens? Contact Timebank or visit the website to find out how you can get involved.

Community gardens
There are many small community gardens around the borough, we would love to hear about yours. Join as an organisational member and your volunteers can earn time credits for the valuable work they do.  Send us a picture and we will be happy to include it in our next newsletter.
