Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information

Has anyone actually used a mobile phone to pay a parking fee. I haven't. I've not even read the instructions on the toll machines. I just don't fancy it. Using a card at an ATM is iffy enough, without broadcasting my financial details over 3G for anyone to hack. But, if you're up for it you can reduce the cost of parking in a Haringey town centre this Christmas.

Dear Members

As you will be aware we have introduced parking concessions leading up to the Christmas period for the past number of years. To ensure that this year all town centres benefit from concessions and  not just those with car parks, as was the experience in previous years,  we have agreed a 50% reduction in parking charges in all town centres by means of the cashless parking facility ( mobile phone parking) on all weekends leading up to Christmas ( from 1 December 2013).

In addition we want to build on the successful parking loyalty scheme run in Green Lanes over the last Christmas period and working with The Traders Associations offer this to other town centres this year.

The Traffic Management service will be taking appropriate steps to publicise these plans and will notify Traders Associations and other key stakeholders, publicity material will also be placed on all pay and display machines.
