Ally Pally planning application Consultative Committee - tonight

The formal planning application for the HLF funded project is shortly to be considered by the APP Trust Board and its various committees. Details of the proposal have been developed by the appointed design team over the past six months but only now are they being exposed to scrutiny. A meeting took place last Tuesday where the design team explained their plans to a small group of people who have been vocal in their concerns, mostly about what should happen to the TV Studios. Amognst other proposals – mostly admirable – they did unfortunately confirm that they intend to seek permission to remove all the bricking- in of the arches which in most experts’ opinion forms the southern wall of the BBC studio complex, thus irrevocably altering the integrity of the world’s first TV stuios.

Clearly we will need to consider and if necessary object to the actual planning application. Meanwhile, these ideas will be discussed tonight at a meeting of the APP Joint Statutory Advisory and Consultative Committee, and tomorrow next at a meeting of the APP Trust Board. Both meetings will be in the Transmitter Hall at APP to start at 7:30. The meetings are public and we encourage everyone who can do to attend, although we realize many of you live outside Haringey.
