Started this discussion. Last reply by Adrian Essex Feb 18, 2015. 13 Replies

What has happened to our railings on the Broadway? Most of them have disappeared sometime over the last few days. As a resident of over 30 years, now with some mobility problems, I found them…Continue

Magpie invasion

Started this discussion. Last reply by crouchhall Jun 14, 2013. 4 Replies

Has anyone else noticed the surge in the Magpie population in Crouch End? The cacophony they produce from 3.30am is unbearable and they've taken to perching on my bedroom window sill which makes it…Continue

Blue Badge anarchy

Started this discussion. Last reply by Betty M May 12, 2012. 4 Replies

I am seeing more and more examples of selfish parking by owners of the ubiquitous 'blue badge', especially in the Crouch Hall Road area. There is a reason why double yellow lines have been painted on…Continue

What IS it about Crouch End and Crouch Hill in particular? First Mr Trebus at the bottom of the hill and now some other bloke at the top of the hill collecting rubbish and not able to let it go (BBC1…Continue

crouchhall replied to Rob Jackson's discussion Goodbye free collection of green waste
"I have a need for garden waste collection. I don't have the mobility to take it myself to the Council dump. So it seems I have no option but to pay. I'd feel a lot better about this if I thought the savings would be ploughed back into…"

"Now that it looks like metering will be compulsory in the Thames Water region I can't wait to sign up. I've hesitated in the past because I thought it would detract from the property. My meter was fitted weeks ago - before the letter…"

"I can't remember the last time I so eagerly awaited the opening of a new eaterie in Crouch End - or how much my expectations were so cruelly dashed. I've been twice now - the first time with a friend for eat-in cod 'n chips and the…"

"Good news it will stop commercial banners, bad news the community activities have no where to put up banners. I think the Council or TFL (whoever removed them) should show respect and inform us why. "

Thank you very much for agreeing to help with the admin of OpinioN8

I have assigned you a role of "Apostle" on the site which gives you rights over discussions, photos, members and blogs, visible when you look at a detail page as "ADMIN OPTIONS" and the ability to edit. So if needed you should have sufficient control to take action.

This is a brief report on the first week of public operation of OpinioN8.

There are now 17 members (though three of them are me) and most of them look like Herman Munster carved out of a pumpkin. See the Hallowe'en event for more pumpkin pictures.
To update your profile picture log on, click on "my page" and then click on old pumpkin face.

Carol Horne has started an album for local photos and added some and I spotted an alien invasion

So far there is only one discussion but it should have some resonance with many. I would urge everyone to read the policy and write to Haringey .

Plans for the site in the short term include:
Inviting some new members - I have a number of email lists of local people and will send out invitations very soon
Adding some sub menus to the tabs across the page to home in on key information
Perhaps re-organising the front page slightly - it seems a bit runaway at the moment

Plans for the site in the medium term include:
Write a note explaining how to import photos from FlickR
Integrate with Facebook and Twitter
Add custom pages reflecting local interest

In the meantime I need some more N8 word plays - ideally all the tabs would have N8 puns. Send me what you can think of or check out the Onelook dictionary wild card look up
