Given the uninspiring prospect of the same team winning the local elections in Haringey yet again (even if it's kind of the same team, because they've disappeared the last lot), maybe we should just…Continue

Started this discussion. Last reply by Alan Stanton Mar 2. 7 Replies

The Mayor's Office will be announcing the winners of the 'London Borough of Culture' pot next week. Haringey put in a bid - but I can't remember if I ever saw it, or whether it was published at…Continue

It's been a whole day since another bloody supermarket opened, and no one's posted yet, so... will people use it? Is the free parking too tempting to resist? Can I be bothered to climb the forbidding…Continue

"Political debate is alive and well and living on Facebook.  I posted a note suggesting that it would be a good thing to vote anyone but Labour. In response I got (inter alia) the snippet below. In debating terms, I count that a win. But rather…"

Municipal Borough of Hornsey election results 1964-2014

Given the uninspiring prospect of the same team winning the local elections in Haringey yet again (even if it's kind of the same team, because they've disappeared the last lot), maybe we should just bring back Hornsey and send Haringey back to oblivion. At least the winning side changes every now and again...So here's a list of the local election results we could have had (using the present wards of Crouch End, Fortis Green, Harringay, Highgate, Hornsey, Muswell Hill & Stroud Green, and…See More

Mark Crouch End replied to Adrian Essex's discussion #HTHBadDeal - even the most sober of judges would think @HaringeyCouncil were barking mad
"A JR can be about any public authority decision, large or small. But time limits apply - and the decision to dispose of the TH was taken in June 2015... nearly 3 years ago. There was a shot at overturning planning, but no case. An argument over the…"

Mark Crouch End replied to Adrian Essex's discussion #HTHBadDeal - even the most sober of judges would think @HaringeyCouncil were barking mad
"Alas the sale won't be under proper scrutiny unless it's a JR on the deal. Which it isn't, it's just about minor planning procedure. There is an irony here of course - clearly one thing which irks people are the numbers of…"

Mark Crouch End replied to Mark Crouch End's discussion Mayor's Good Growth Fund, money for Wood Green
"Don't knock the TfL money, it's all we're ever going to get. The defining mission of Haringey has been to extract as many golden eggs as it can from the detested Hornsey part of the borough, to centralise as much as they can in Wood…"

"And  Mark refers to "Mayoral largesse" which actually is taxpayer largesse, Sadiq is only redistributing what he gets in. Which is fair enough, that's how taxation works. But if Crouch End never gets anything except cycle lanes…"

Mayor's Good Growth Fund, money for Wood Green

Another helping of Mayoral largesse announced today, £24m for regeneration projects in London under the banner Good Growth Fund. I quote - "the successful projects will deliver social and economic improvements including investment in community assets, workspaces, green infrastructure and cultural venues."Mountview's Peckham project got a slice, and round…See More
