Lovely doors for hot days but no colourful meringues on display

Do you think "Ezme" was a previous occupant? I love it when these old name boards are briefly revealed during a refit and we get a glimpse of the past before a shiny smart sign goes up proudly announcing the identity of the new business. Just opposite Coffee Cake the new gentleman's groming establishment has taken the novel step of painting their sign directly on the brickwork above the door. The shop done up by Art House Deli kept the original signs - and has just reopened as a cafe called Ruby Rose. And down by Kwik Fit when the letting agency was about to open, we spotted the shop used to be "Linda Grey". Dave Winskill remembered it was a dress agency.

So here is a little quiz for Crouch Enders with long memories. Who was Ezme and what did she sell?

So, that's why I can't find Ezme on the internet! Silly me

Ezme has become Cafe Celeste.

Cafe Celeste. Good luck to her and all who sail in her - unlike Marie of that ilk.

More information from Facebook.

Coffee & Cake's new owner, Ileana, opens her new cafe soon. She's gutted the place (was disgusting in there) and done it out really nicely. One thing she's going to specialise in are super healthy and artisan salads. Her background is running a deli -

Information marred only by the gratuitous and inaccurate insult to Coffee Cake. I think the new place is a bit bland , flick flack doors like most new places, matching greige furniture, and what looks like a fairly uncomfartable sofa.
