Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information
They were taken today in out front garden at St Regis Close.
The tree is a BAY TREE . I use many of its fragrant leaves in my cooking.
I planted it shortly after I moved here in 1966. I bought a tiny plant for the HUGE sum of 14/6 .
It has grown huge and we have to keep it under control.
Where we have cut it back, the scars heal, revealing beautiful markings and contours .Many are suggestive . .I see faces, body parts . it is like "Nature's Anatomy Lesson" . if I had time, I would draw rather than photograph this bountiful tree .
In fact, I used to attend Life Drawing classes at Hornsey Art School on Saturday mornings in the 1950s , while I was still at school.
Another link with N8 Then HORNSEY was Hornsey . . and we , in Muswell Hill were part of Hornsey.
I hope you enjoy my photos.
With good wishes to all in N8 and beyond
