Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information

OpinioN8 update 8th August 2013

Volunteering is apparently all the rage since the Olympics, but here is something totally unsporty to volunteer for - Hornsey Library's Zen Garden refurbishment. Also in one of our green spaces have you replied to Carly's survey about Tea and Scones In Stationer's Park
While the government is looking to the future with its energy policy, some of us are nostalgic for old shop fronts and portable typewriters
Living Under One Sun has shared its observations about what goes on in the borough
This unsolicited  phone call about Ashmount School is more than just annoying , it seems positively subversive.
There is an OpinioN8 poll about Haringey's spending on consultants. The last poll suggests we do still read the local paper
The new Arthouse cinema wants a lighting expert - and the Hornsey Town Hall has another new set of architects
A couple of brief words about crime to watch out for - thieves on motor bikes and identity fraud but in reply there is a crime prevention day and our borough commander has been on the wireless
reliable cleaner is available, though Laura is still looking
Would you like to help make OpinioN8 even better? Maybe take a turn writing this newsletter, add some events to the calendar, or sow the seeds of ideas for new discussions. Our Twitter and Facebook feeds could do with some curating too. If you would like to help, please get in touch with Ivan by email opinion8@rocketmail.com
Another opportunity for restoration of civic pride, this time at the Hornsey Library in the Zen Garden. (The Bizzy Lizzies by the Clock Tower still look splendid)
