20170922 Shops under repair in N8

Under Repair
I took my camera for a walk round Crouch End the other day and picked out some of the premises that are, or have recently been refitted. I picked out 12 shops, restaurants and pubs. There is of course, our old favourite, Middeys , apparently a never ending story, but my personal new favourite is TQL bathrooms, which has a truly eye catching display. And 10 others.
And for those of us whose intellects could benefit from a bit of TLC there is U3A

There is to be a demo.
Local character Chris Setz, is organising a march, very well behaved, from the Earl Haig to Hornsey Town Hall, in protest against the planned Town Hall changes. Do support him if you can. This Saturday, 23rd September, 3 pm.

Hornsey Town Hall

Is still on our agenda for a while. The planning application consultation closes on 27th September, so there will be a lull (probably) between then and the announcement of a date for the planning sub-committee.
In the meantime, you are urged to make comments on the application, for or against.
The Neighbourhood Forum has produced a guide to some of the things we might like to comment on. The number of comments has gone up a lot in the past week so there is a bandwagon to jump on.
I've been trying to follow the 'use your own words' advice on a couple of topics.
This objection has a lot of colourful images.
And there is a rumour that a local lad has got the Arts Operator gig

Saturday 23rd September - Our featured event - the Demo
The Karamel Klub is as busy as ever over in Wood Green.

22nd September - Jazz at the Green Rooms Wood Green
23rd September - Chocolate Factory Open Studios
27th September - University of 3rd Age inaugural meeting
15th October - Craft and Gift Event

Hornsey Town Hall Plans
Local residents' group has produced a video largely of what the new blocks at the Town Hall might look like. Some of the images show the overbearing nature of the new blocks, detracting from the context of the listed buildings. My attempt at an objection is here. You might like to object in your own words, by email to james.hughes@haringey.gov.uk , perhaps using one of these images
