Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information

20150207 - Shops Closing and Restaurants Opening

More shop closures on Park Road, with Dandy Candies and Mirror Mirror the latest to go. Is a rather tasteless-looking nail bar better than nothing? Ella asks what would you like to see opening on Park Road? There's news of a new Budgens concept store opening.

Eating and drinking
There's two new restaurants coming soon - a bar and grill on Topsfield Parade and a fish place on Middle Lane. Check out the hygiene standards of the current places though - it's certainly made me think twice! If the weather stays cold there's news of two pubs with open fires in Crouch End.

Transport and utilities
Add your voice to the great Broadway railings debate! Glad they've gone or wish they'd put them back? We're very reliant on bus services in Crouch End so a bus strike is never good news, but a limited service was maintained. There's two more coming on Friday 13 and Monday 16 February. Typical - you wait ages for a bus strike and then three come along at once!

Local politics and activism
There's lots more hot air about Hornsey Town Hall - Adrian encourages us to focus our energies and do something productive. He's met with he ANA arts collective to find out what's going on. The Crouch End Neighbourhood Forum is starting to get results, with a development forum successfully lobbied for over 161 Tottenham Lane - well done to them!

Exciting plans are afoot for St Mary's church tower in Hornsey and give your backing to anew comedy TV show at the Town Hall.

The clock tower seems to be in need of a service and there's a long article from The Guardian about the Crouch End property market.

Help needed/offered and recommended
Sally is looking for a seller of chestnut honey and Jacqui for someone to take overdecorating the Broadway for the Crouch End Festival. Adrian is giving away old Country Life magazines.
