sharing news and views from Crouch End and Hornsey
Had dinner in La Bota last evening - and thoroughly enjoyed it. The mood in the restaurant is generally cheerful. We were in early but there was a decent crowd - a mother and daughter, some couples and a table of ladies - perhaps an office outing - with a jug of sangria. So a good atmosphere, which built up as the evening went on, with many customers being greeted by name, and a few of our neighbours coming in and passing the time of evening.
We picked mainly seafood dishes - salt cod and chick peas, calamari, prawns in garlic sauce, with a plate of chicken in mushroom and wine sauce for meat, stuffed mushrooms and potatoes allioli. I was happy with all of them.
We picked a white wine from La Mancha - it was chilled and as I'd choose red wine more often than not, I perhaps shouldn't judge. But it served to wash down the tasty dishes quite well.
The bill came to £42.50 for 2 of us.
