sharing news and views from Crouch End and Hornsey

I think I don't know how dentistry is organised nowadays. I go into the Weston Park dentists (next door to Arocaria) and there is a price list. I  have no idea whether it is private or NHS, but everyone tells me dentistry is very expensive, so this price list , being merely expensive, seems to me reasonable. Dr Babbar (does a dentistry qualification entitle one to call oneself "Dr"?) has done three or four biggish things for me including two gold fillings. I am happy with the results.

My wife and one of my daughters have been to the practice and have decided not to go back.

Of course, I never floss enough and need an appointment with the hygienist.

There is a lot of work going on in what used to be a chemist shop on the corner of Elder Avenue and Middle Lane (Opposite what used to be the Middle Lane health centre) opening the basement. I think this is a dentist in the making. Having your teeth pulled in a subterranean chamber has a certain ghoulish appeal.
I hadn't even thought of it as being a dentist - Smiles4U is a poor choice of name, the logo reminds me of the Colgate package and a waiting room open to the full view of passers by seems wrong. I'd assumed they were quacks who would use iffy methods to whiten your teeth so they fall out. I am clearly very out of tune with modern marketing methods. Perhaps I should judge a dentist by his shop front.

If the logo reminds you of a Colgate package, that's not bad in marketing terms! A little subliminal reminder.
