Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information
I just wanted to tell you all about a new community brass band that I've been involved in setting up. We rehearse Friday evenings 7:30-9:30 at Fortismere School, up in Muswell Hill and all are welcome, even absolute beginners (I have a number of instruments available for people to borrow)! We can teach you the basics for free - so that you can start making music with the band in no time.
Also, if anyone has an event that they would like a brass band to play at, we are now taking bookings for the summer and beyond!
Please send me a message or call me on 075 8886 8600 if you are interested or visit www.fortismerecommunitybrass.org.uk.
PS - if anyone would like to come along and listen, we are performing at the Crouch End Festival on Sunday 16th 2-3pm outside Hornsey Town Hall. There will be an opportunity to have a go on an instrument, so if you fancy learning a new skill, come along and give it a try!
The band has come a long way since posting here - we are now London Metropolitan Brass! We will be out and about in the local community over the next few weeks, playing the Remembrance service at Hornsey Parish Church on Sunday and then making an appearance at Crouch End Festival Craft Fair in December.
If you want to learn an instrument, we've started a beginners band, where we can lend you an instrument and teach you for free. There's no excuse not to come and have a go!
