We'll keep the Green Flag flying here - Priory Park's imported Christmas Trees

Haringey recently published a parks brochure setting out commercial opportunities to hire parts of its parks. A High Court ruling suggests that money raised in this way must only be spent in the park where the rental takes place.

So Priory Park is due a bit of income. The Tree Amigos have taken a stall just below the Green Flag to sell Christmas trees. The company number they provide leads to a company called Greenfields registered to an address in Sheffield.

Haringey also supports a movement called '"Small Business Saturday" which promotes shopping locally. Haringey forgets its cash strappedness for long enough to permit free parking on December 1st, precisely in order to encourage people in cars to park in Haringey.

Harry Rashid, Chairman of Wood Green Business Improvement District, and local small business owner, said:

“Small and independent businesses are vital for our community" [but Haringey are shipping in a load of Christmas trees from Sheffield. After all the local traders can sell theirs the rest of the year].

There is a discussion on Haringey's free parking on HoL on how misguided or otherwise this offering might be .
