Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information
It looks like Crouch End is going through one of its occasional (and rare) crime waves.
This morning my partner, on her way to work, spotted a car on Haringey Park that had been broken into - she reported it to the local SNT.
Later, my next door neighbor knocked on my door (on Uplands Road) to tell me his bicycle had been stolen. He had been using a D-Lock attached to a metal hand rail by his front door to secure it: thieves had simply pulled the rail out of the ground and made off with the bike - lock and all.
Last week a friend living on in Haslemere Road was burgled during the day when she popped out to go to M&S - thieves got in via communal front door and raided her top floor flat.
And, a few weeks ago, another friend had her front door sawn through as a burglar gained entry.
Crouch End is still a very crime free area but it is sensible to take precautions as well as to look out for neighbours.
Always call 999 when you see any suspicious activity actually happening.
At other times you should call the Crouch End Safer Neighbourhood Team on 020 8649 3515 or email them firstname.lastname@example.org . They will note odd activity and come visit to give crime prevention advice.
