Apply to Exhibit with the Open Studios May 2012

Closing date November 26th 2011

About the event

The basis of our Open Studios is that artists show their work in their own homes and studios and also in local cafes/restaurants or any

other venues they may find and arrange for themselves. The venues must lie within walking distance of the Crouch End Clocktower - see the

geographic area defined by our map. Selected artists are entirely responsible for their own venue and whilst CEOS organisers take no

responsibility for finding, organising or managing venues, we may be able to suggest some locations.

What the artists contribute

The event is a collaborative one, and its success depends upon every participating artist making a contribution of both time and money.

There is an application fee of £10.00 and all accepted and participating artists are required to pay an annual nonreturnable subscription fee

of £120.00. This is due by December 15th 2011. Artists may also be asked to contribute to the costs of a Private View of our Group Exhibition.

There are no sales commissions.

All participating artists are expected to help the organising committee with various activities for the benefit of the whole group. Examples are

raising sponsorship, leafleting, invigilation of the exhibition, collecting visitors details and total sales figures for the database. Each artist

should expect to contribute at least 10 hours assistance in the weeks just before the event and some time in December/January/February

to help raise sponsorship and publicity.

The cost of running the event

The subscriptions and sponsorship pay for the the design and printing of 25000 leaflets, for posters and the development and regular

updating of our website and visitor database. We post or email over 1000 invitations/notices to our visitors and if possible we also pay

for targeted leaflet drops to homes in adjacent areas.

Application and Selection

We want to present Fine Art of high quality from professional artists. Our Steering Committee selects artists on the basis of a completed

application form, (see links below) accompanied by a CV, a short artist's statement, and the presentation of 6 images.

The images should be clear and of good quality so as to give the best impression of your work. They should be saved on a CD as

high quality JPG's at 300 dpi and the print size should be a minimum of 4" on the shortest side.. They will be viewed on a PC or a MAC

computer by the selection committee.

We are looking for 6 images representing the work you intend to show at the Open Studios. At least 3 images should be of work from the

last 2 years . If you are accepted, we will choose one of your images for inclusion on our leaflet and website.

We ask for a supporting statement of about 150 words concerning the work you are presenting and your practice, and another shorter

version of 60 words that we will place on our website if you are selected. Please list titles, size and media of the works. All this should

be supplied on CD, clearly labelled with your name and contact details. For newer media, please send the above information and a

labelled DVD/CD of your work- maximum run time 15 minutes. Include SAE if you would like the DVD/CD returned.

Applications should be accompanied by a cheque for £10.00. We must emphasise that the Selection Committee will not give any

feedback, nor reconsider or enter into any correspondence regarding any decision. See our Selection Policy

Each year some people are disappointed, and there are many and varied reasons for this, which may not reflect on the quality of the

applicants' work, but on factors associated with the direction of the whole event.
