The Recovery Co-ordination Group is a body representing the different groups which are helping London get back on its feet in the wake of the disturbances.
We have representatives from the affected London boroughs, the Greater London Authority, London Councils, the Metropolitan Police, and the London Fire Brigade. Our job is to deal help the public, local authorities and businesses across the capital get back to work, mending the damage that was done.
The purpose of the group is to look at both the short and medium-term impact of the disturbances, identifying what is needed in order to ensure that the recovery happens as swiftly and smoothly as possible. We provide strategic direction and strong leadership to the recovery effort, and this includes liaising with government and providing advice and support to help the affected communities. We will monitor the financial issues, pursue the funding necessary for businesses and other groups, and make sure that red tape and disruption is kept to a minimum.
We also want to showcase the positive efforts made by different communities, helping to restore those neighbourhoods and streets affected by the disturbances.
