Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information
Recently there have been a number of burglaries that have taken place during which the suspects have made off on mopeds. Most of these have been in the N6, N10 areas but not exclusively.
These have most commonly taken place between 7pm and 9pm and at addresses where it has been obvious that no one is at home. Typically a front ground floor window has been forced open or broken.
Please be vigilant, keep an eye out for your property and that of your neighbours and if you see anything suspicious, particularly mopeds or motorcycles or persons wearing motorcycle helmets, call police on 999 and try if possible to note the registration number of any vehicle involved and a description of the people and vehicle if possible.
As crime prevention methods you can consider using timer switches on lights at home to make it look like you are in when you are out. You can also consider installing a dusk to dawn exterior light that uses low energy bulbs. Please remember the movement sensitive lights are often very bright and turn on and off when windy or animals pass, disturbing neighbours.
If you would like police to visit to offer a crime prevention survey and advise you on how your locks can be improved please contact us.
Police are aware of the incidents and officers have been briefed accordingly.
