The End of the World

I refer to the end of the World Cafe.

I am sad, are you? We should sing Portuguese fados outside, it was the first place to sell Portuguese custard pies, as far as I know, in the area.

It was just unbelievable how little it changed between 1992 when I came to live here, and now.

Of course it was a huge celebrity spot place and used by all sorts of well-knowns but I was never into that much. Though people sometimes say I look like Annie Lennox so perhaps it was me they saw.

As it happens there is a suggested end date of 28 October 2011 (disputed date for end of Mayan Calendar) but most people I know have already lived through several world ending dates.

Lizzie Green I liked the world cafe because it has stunning views outside the cafe and I am sad that it is closed.Thanks to friendly staffs and manager and good luck to them.x

There are signs in the windows saying it is to be reopened, refurbished and under new management but there is no sign of anything happening at all which is a shame.

It is really sad to see it go. I'll miss the calamari.
