Tailors and seamstresses for dress alterations

Left to itself this two week old conversation would effectively disappear from Facebook. Perhaps these notes will be useful for future reference here. It's a little while since the topic of clothing alterations came up here

Hi Crouch Enders. I have a nice dress that needs altering. Can anyone recommend a good local seamstress or tailor please? I know we have loads on the high street but be great to have a personal recommendation for one or for someone not on the high street even. Thank you

  Nadine Mogford My Tailor opposite HaringeyArms is lovely and very very reasonable for Crouch End. He saved me from a dress nightmare, frankly going well beyond the call of duty, and gets my hearty recommendation.

  Serena Sutherland I would agree, My Tailor on crouch hill are great and very reasonable too. I too found Sew to be quite rude and overpriced.

  Zara Lee Ok for those who wanted to know the outcome, I really wasn't happy with My Tailor at all. I'm going to go there tomorrow and tell them my woes and see if they offer any refund. More details to come.
