Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information
You may be aware that Labour Councillor Gideon Bull spoke out against the closure by Haringey Council of a number of Day Centres in the borough for those suffering from dementia. (The only one to do so.) His temerity in speaking out resulted in a three month suspension from the Labour Party. This has really put Haringey on the (international) map. A petition was launched to have him reinstated. At the time of writing the number of signatories has reached very nearly 60,000 worldwide! If you feel that he has been unjustly treated for putting the case for the elderly and vulnerable then please sign this petition. Irrespective of the outcome for Cllr. Bull, Haringey Council are firmly committed to the closure of these centres no matter what (including an injection of funds possibly resulting in an increase in Council Tax targeted to pay for aspects of the social services budget.) You might like to convey your feelings to your local Labour Councillor who will have voted for this.

This petition is still getting signatures - clearly the anger has not died down. Even though the petition is not on the Haringey petitions system it may well still be worth getting touch with
