Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information

Road Closures in Crouch End beginning 7th October - will it make the area more liveable?

I've been bleating on about this for months, and berating Haringey for their lack of engagement with the community. Now Haringey (and its consultants) have decided to close some Crouch End roads as an experiment. While they have invited a select few ("Stakeholders") to attend a meeting this week the announcement of the trial seems to be quite low key. So far all I've seen is the new Liveable Crouch End web page.

Well done to our local councillors, then, for organising a meeting to go over the proposals, in public. For date and time see below, after the Trials Map.

Well done too , for highlighting the powerlessness of almost anyone to get Haringey to respond positively to requests for information.

Even if you can't get to the meeting, take a look at the web page and make your comments to one of our councillors or to Cllr Hearn (kirsten.hearn@haringey.gov.uk ) the cabinet member with responsibility for saving the planet.

Dear Adrian,

In December 2017, Haringey Council secured £4.8m from Transport for London (TfL) to deliver a Liveable Neighbourhoods project (external link) for Crouch End. Since then, little information has been provided by Haringey Council on the project and plans have yet to be confirmed.

Therefore on Sunday 29th September from 2pm, we are inviting Haringey Council and residents of Crouch End to come together for the first time for a fully public meeting, to hear about what the scheme will entail, what the timeline is, and for any questions to be answered.

Despite repeated requests from us - your local councillors - over a number of months, detailed plans and public engagement has not been forthcoming, and with trialled road closures planned for October, we believe that the Council cannot wait any longer to address the Crouch End community.

Please join us, alongside local groups such as the Crouch End Forum, at Hornsey Library on Sun 29th to hear the views of all and (hopefully) hear from Council officers too. To attend please RSVP using the button below:
