Rising rents force Figo's Café out of Crouch End

According to this article in the journal Figo's is closing down as a result of a rent rise. Shame. Notch up another victim to big business, greedy landlords and the undervaluing of independence/independents.

The place had character and an interesting array of posters in the window - not something you could ever accuse Starbuck's of.

This is a real shame. I was in there with a friend a couple of weeks ago and they arranged his fry up so it looked like a smiley face! With bacon ears, which I thought was a particularly good touch.

Alas coffee shops are more common than actors in Crouch End.

Character maybe but truly diabolically awful coffee and I always found the owners grumpy. I'm not going to miss it. Coffee Circus is the only place in Crouch End where they rally know how to make coffee.
