Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information
Paesan Italian restaurant appears to be on its way to Crouch End - and rescuing the long gone ex-Greek restaurant (Arocaria) site tucked away behind Gail's Broadway Parade facing Weston Park.
An independent, they have a sister branch on Exmouth Market. Early days.

It would be great to see that site put back into use, and I welcome an independent restaurant coming in to fill it rather than another chain. It will be nice to add traditional Italian dishes to the Crouch End scene alongside the pizzas at the excellent Sacro Cuore, and Cicchetti inspired small plates at Nickel.
Let's just hope it's not another Middey's fiasco.
Hi all
I know many who are wondering what is happening with the ex-Greek restaurant (Arocaria) behind Gail's Bakery. I have spoken with one of the owners of Paesan who confirmed that they will be starting the fit out of 48c The Broadway imminently. They hope to launch the restaurant in May with some locals nights.
One of the partners has lived in Crouch End for 15 years hence the choice to open their second restaurant here.
I look forward to the site being brought back in to use!
Thought I'd ask the chap responsible, he confirmed -
Let's hope, then, that Paesan has learned some lessons since the scorching review of their Exmouth Market site by Marina O'Loughin in the Guardian a few years ago https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2013/sep/14/restaurant-pae... . "'Cheap ingredients, massively marked up, leave a murky taste in my mouth"
Enjoyed that.
Disappointing food with pretensions to authenticity. Should do well here.
