Publically ask Jeremy Corybn to back a people's vote @HaringeyLibDems

What do these half baked, second rate Lib Dems think they are up to.

Everything the British has asked for during the leave the  EU negotiations has been refused, except under threat of paying more money or conforming to more rules.

SO, if there were a people's vote, and there were enough dimwits who haven't realised that the EU is a millstone, shackled to a yoke around Britain's metaphorical neck, so that the government had a mandate to go back to Barnier and say "Actually we'd like to stay after all" the best we could hope for would be

Dear Adrian,

It is now just seven months to go until the UK is due to leave the European Union and question marks continue to grow over what – if any – exit deal the government can make.

In recent months, evidence has shown that the referendum was riddled with lies, and that the Leave campaign broke electoral law. We cannot allow Theresa May and the Conservatives to take us over the cliff-edge because of a vote based on fiction rather than fact.

We want the people - not politicians - to get the final say on the Brexit deal. A bad deal – which is almost certainly the only kind available – will really hurt our borough and our country.

It is crucial that Labour politicians speak up. Between the Lib Dems, Conservative rebels, the nationalists and a Green, there are enough votes in parliament to defeat the Government’s Brexit plans and force them to give the decision to the public.

However, that is only possible if Labour MPs vote the right way. That is why I am calling for the leader of Haringey Council, Cllr Joe Ejiofor, to lobby his fellow Labour members, Jeremy Corbyn and Keir Starmer – both MPs for neighbouring boroughs – to end Labour’s opposition to a People’s Vote.

If you support our campaign for a people's vote please add your name:

Dear Cllr Ejiofor,

I am writing to ask you, as Leader of Haringey Council, to publically give your support for a People’s Vote on the outcome of the Government’s negotiations on leaving the EU. In particular, I urge you to make representations to Jeremy Corybn to give his support for a People’s Vote.

As you are no doubt aware, the momentum behind this referendum is growing both nationally and locally. Polls now show a majority of the public now support a referendum on the final deal or lack thereof (YouGov July 2018). The idea has been backed by businesses and trade unions such as the Royal College of Nursing. It has the support of the Liberal Democrats and the Green Party along with MPs from Labour and Conservatives, including the two Labour MPs who represent this borough.

Earlier this year, the Labour-controlled London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham passed a motion at its Full Council advocating a People’s Vote. More recently, your opposite number at Camden, Cllr Gould, has come out in support.

I understand that the Greater London Assembly will likely vote on a motion about a People’s Vote on Thursday 6 th September. I would also urge you to make representations to the Labour Members sitting on the GLA to support this motion.

Over the last year, the public’s attitude towards leaving the EU has changed. It has become apparent that the Brexit that was promised cannot be delivered. Under these circumstances, the people of this country (including those in our borough) deserve the final say on whether they want the Brexit that is actually on offer.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

We already had a second vote, the June 2017 General Election.

82% of people voted for parties that supported Brexit and the triggering of Article 50. The party campaigning to overturn democracy (the Lib Dems) scored 7.4%.
