Why do people use pseudonyms on a local community site?

Why not? They are usually only a very thin disguise for someone easily recognisable from the clues they leave behind. Sometimes it might help the nervous to say something they might otherwise not. Rarely it is a hiding place for the unpleasant.

Interesting perspective.  The source of comments on local community sites, asking a question, persuading or providing partial information isn't relevant.  There is no need for individuals or groups to declare their personal or prejudicial interests.

I guess I am old fashioned. What happened to integrity, democracy, transparency, the story, background words that used to mean something once upon a time.
