Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information

Yes, the scaffolding is up. Roll up, roll up for the big fountain dig. We need volunteers to help dig out the soil from the fountain. Also, any media/newspaper/PR people here want to report this in the local press? We have to dig the soil out so that we can get a survey done on the fountain with the hope that it can be restored to full working order. If not then it will be secured so that it doesn't slide off its plinth. It is a listed structure and was originally in St. Paul's Cathedral Churchyard. If you can help turn up from Wednesday onwards. We don't know how long it will take to remove the soil, but I will keep you updated as we progress. Thanks
Also an opportunity for me to quote Kipling, relevant if you've got the hump . . . .
The cure for this ill is not to sit still
Or frowst with a book by the fire
But to take a large hoe and a shovel also
And dig till you gently perspire
And talking of listed structures in Haringey - please sign the petition to keep Hornsey Town Hall in public ownership, rather than handing it over to a developer.
