Pop up cafe rumour - behind Riley's - @N8_Spriggan - in the Town Hall car park

Here's a tweet from @N8_Spriggan

to gain pop-up cafe this year made from 4 recycled shipping containers behind Riley's on Broadway

Accompanying it is a picture which I've copied in below. Now, behind Rileys, just past the Foto-Plus computer shop and beyond the home tutoring place is the Hornsey Town Hall Annexe Car Park. I've also included a picture of what the car park looks like at present. Not a pretty site. The pop up would be much more attractive. I've looked for the source of this rumour, but not found it. Can anyone help track it down. Might this be a council initiative, if so who have they told?

If you look very closely at the graphic of the pop-up (double click, it should open bigger in a separate window) you will notice that it is set in the notorious Western Park Road area of Crouch End, where few of us ever venture. Maybe not a council initiative.

replying to the request for info about vegetarian restaurants, I've found that the French restaurant Les Associes will always provide something really good for your veggie guest if you ask in advance

I have found the source of this rumour. It's a planning application for a pop-up cafe HGY/2015/0561. The design statement suggests that having popped up the cafe may be there for two years. The design statement sets out to address some of the issues that might be brought up, suggesting that the cafe will add to the vibrancy of the Broadway and provide employment, as well as clearing up what is, at the moment, a mess. There are also noise and traffic assessments, which obviously indicate that this is a fine site for such an undertaking. Objections are beginning. One objection from the proprietor of Spiazzo suggests that the cafe will harm his business, give him even worse rodent problems than he has at the moment and put him at risk from burglary. Another from a resident of Weston Park fears an invasion.

I dont' mind so long as they leave the big pear tree in the carpark alone. It gives a great crop which we harvest most autumns. I'm sympathetic to Spizzo though. We really have an awful lot of coffee in Brazil, sorry, Crouch End
