Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information

Win lunch for two in Crouch End’s Coffee Cake

One of the greatest pleasures of living in N8 is the abundance of wonderful trees we all have near where we live. We are also lucky enough to have the Tree Trust for Haringey who try and make sure that out trees and woodlands are loved, looked after and kept safe from developers – do have a look at the Tree Trust website to see what they do and how to get involved.

OpinioN8 has teamed up with our friends in Coffee Cake  to offer lunch for two from their restaurant menu for the best photograph of a tree in the N8 area.

And autumn is the best time to photograph them.

Tall trees, thin ones, round ones and skinny ones, in a wood, by themselves, in your garden or in your  street - get out there, take a picture and send it to us by 31st October 2014. (send an email  to opinion8@rocketmail.com with the picture attached, or post it yourself to our photos section)  We’ll award the lunch to whoever, in our opinion, has taken the best picture.

Be sure to tell us where in N8 the tree is and please add, in no more than twenty words why this is your favourite tree (in case we need a tie breaker).

All photographs will find their way onto opinioN8’s photo gallery.

Happy Snapping!

In conjunction with the photography competition for adults listed above, opinioN8 is promoting an exhibition of photographs of trees by children in Crouch End.   Details of age groups and prizes will be available shortly.  Constructive comments are welcome from teachers and parents. Administration and prizes costs will be funded by the remaining profit made by the Crouch End (Community) Festivals 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001 and the winning artwork will be displayed prominently locally.

I've uploaded a photo to the photo section, for your consideration.

some of the interesting suggestions put forward include making the exhibition open to artists' drawings and paintings and organising it in conjunction with the Tree Trust for Haringey
