Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information

. . . . .  where it could be argued we really need one. And this one has an artistic bent, with pictures, presumably for sale, all around. I think it is at  59 Park Road, an interesting building with fanlights and elaborate brick arches , recently featured in a blog on the Crouch End Neighbourhood Forum

Thanks for the proprietor for selflessly promoting the new Whittington and James venture on Facebook.

I've received an email from Andrew Palmer, one of the artists whose pictures are in the new shop. I'm not sure if the invitation extends to everyone but these are the illustrations from it. It reads

"

I am delighted to be showing some paintings at a new cafe/gallery -
Whittington and James, in Crouch End.
The opening is on Saturday 17th June 2017. 7pm till late.
59B Park Road, Crouch End, London N8 8DP.
Please see attached invitation.
Hope you can make it.
Looking forward to seeing you there.
Best wishes,
Andy."

We popped in there this morning for a browse and a drink, and we're met with a friendly hello by the proprietor and his charming Roman assistant. The café seems like a welcome addition to that quiet corner of Crouch End, and I look forward to the promised arrival of an air-conditioning unit and a wider range of food choices. Meanwhile, it's a pleasant, bright space in which to linger (and so far mercifully free of the characteristic Crouch End convoy of prams and pushchairs).

This has closed down very quickly apparently with bad feeling. Perhaps there is a good explanation.

There'll be another one along in a minute... ish
