Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information

Muddy Boots has been in Crouch End for more than a year now, but I had not been in there to eat/drink in that time. Monday evening provided the opportunity - Crouch End's restaurants are fairly empty on a Monday evening, and we had a chance to chat to Osian, who was on duty that night.

The decor in Muddy Boots is appealing. Bar stools are set about four biggish scrub top tables, which provides an extravagant feel for use of space, and almost guarantees some interaction with fellow customers. Many of the walls are lined with books about food, some written by the owners, except where the wine is set out, and the chiller cabinets with Muddy Boots stock in trade.

There is a limited choice of meal but plenty of snacks and side dishes. You can see the Muddy Boots menu here. The hot dish on Monday was Pork Stroganoff, one of the Muddy Boots range of frozen dishes you can buy in the Crouch End shop, Waitrose or Ocado, but famously not Tesco.

There is a choice of wines and I had a bottle of tasty craft beer.

I was quite happy with my stroganoff, the parsley in it almost making up for a green vegetable, but Dulce thought there was a little too  much flavouring.

At £18 I found it a pleasant way to spend an hour, eat, drink and chat.
