Haringey’s local hospitals, GPs, and walk-in centres will receive £7.6 million in extra funding this year. You can tell me what you’d like to see the extra money spent on here.
For years Haringey’s vital health services were severely underfunded, receiving far less money per person than neighbouring boroughs such as Islington and Camden. The underfunding has meant increased waiting times and less preventative care for Haringey residents.
So, the Haringey Liberal Democrats and I started a campaign – demanding fairer health funding for our borough. Thousands of residents supported us, and we made submissions to the Department of Health and NHS England.
And in late December, we got some good news – NHS England have finally changed the funding formula, and Haringey health services will now receive an above inflation,£7.6 million increase in funding.
The Haringey Lib Dems and I will be pushing to make sure the money is spent well, on the health issues that matter the most. It would be great if you could, therefore, take a moment to quickly let me know your views on local health services.
