Local Democracy in Action - Parks petition triggers full Haringey council debate

A local community organisation Haringey Friends of Parks Forum has obviously worked very hard this year to trigger a debate of the full council by collecting more than 2,200 signatures on a petition.

You can read about petitioning the council here. You can read the wording of this particular petition here.

The Friends of Parks group has made statements about the effect of reductions in park staffing, even going so far as to say that DownHills Park no longer deserves its "Green Flag" status

Threads on OpinioN8 have highlighted the deterioration in Stationer's Park over recent weeks, with staff not being replaced, some instances of vandalism and uncleared rubbish and a possible community response.

OpinioN8 is pleased to have been able to publicise this petition from the outset, and to have given some small impetus to the 724 online signatures with this email:

I have added a page to OpinioN8. http://opinion8.ning.com/forum/topics/no-cuts-to-parks-staff about your petition.
I think you should add an epetition to Haringey. http://www.minutes.haringey.gov.uk/mgEPetitionListDisplay.aspx?XXR=...
