Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information

Lynne F has sent me this email asserting that Muswell Hill library is threatened with closure, though she does not provide a link with the source documents, which I have not been able to find.

Dear Adrian,

I need your help to save Muswell Hill Library. It is a treasured community asset in a listed, historic building. It hosts community events and allows local residents to access books, newspapers, computers and more.
But despite being well-used and popular, the library is under threat of closure.
That’s right – Labour-run Haringey Council’s recent budget papers shockingly reveal their plans to close the library and relocate the service.
The council haven’t even told us where they plan to relocate the service – raising fears that it could close with no local replacement at all.
I hope you’ll add your voice to the campaign, which calls for the Council to think again.I think that money should be spent on improving the current library and making it more accessible, rather than on relocating it.

Back in the 90’s – a local Lib Dem campaign and people power saved the library from a similar threat. We can do the same again.

Very best,

TheHam and High have this analysis of the budget proposals. Muswell Hill library closure is down as a maybe.
