Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information
Haringey Council has appointed Lyn Garner to be the borough's director of Place and Sustainability from July 2011.
Lyn said that she looks forward immensely to helping lead the way through a significant period of change in Haringey as the council develops new ways of working in the wake of central government spending cuts.
Her responsibilities will include:
Lyn said:
"The very word 'challenge' may be a cliché, but it describes the reality of what all of us in local government face.
"I have been struck by the ideas that Haringey has to improve life fairly for the borough's population and look forward to helping new thinking to become reality."
Haringey Council's Chief Executive Kevin Crompton said:
"Lyn will be working on a very broad range of services and joins us at one of the most difficult periods in local government history. I am very pleased that she will be bringing her particular talent, skills and experience to Haringey as we continue to work hard, imaginatively and with determination to make the very best out of every penny spent on making the borough better."
Lyn comes to Haringey from the Greater London Authority, where she was interim director of Development and Environment, overseeing key strategies in environment, transport, land use, planning and housing.
Before joining the GLA last September, Lyn spent nine years at the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, where she worked first as assistant director of Housing and Community Service and then as assistant director of Regeneration and Housing Strategy.
She has also worked in a number of other roles across London and the South East and began her career in local government finance
