Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information
Sent on behalf of Detective Chief Superintendent Sandra Looby, Haringey Borough Commander.
Following today's reporting in the Times and The Guardian we feel that it is important that we clarify certain points.
The IPCC inquiry has not concluded and is likely to take some months before they have collated all of the evidence and produced their final report and conclusions. It is in the interest of everyone, the family of Mr Duggan, the public and the police, that the IPCC are able to establish all the facts of the events so that there is a complete understanding of what happened and the MPS are doing everything possible to assist with that process.
We have met with Mr Duggan's parents. In line with the family’s wishes, the policing will reflect the family’s desire for a local, peaceful and dignified funeral.
Contrary to media reports The firearms officer involved in the shooting of Mark Duggan has not returned to operational firearms duties.
