As we approach the end of a busy 2019 we look forward to the festive break and ushering in the New Year, bringing us ever closer to the re-opening of Hornsey Town Hall.
The hoarding has been erected around the perimeter of the site and Ardmore Construction are now hard at work as the restoration of HTH continues. Protection has been put in place across the listed external and interior features to ensure the heritage and character of the building is preserved.
Whilst the restoration gets underway, the HTH Arts Centre and TIME + SPACE Co. team will retain a presence in the Arts Centre reception at the front of the building, adjacent to the FEC marketing suite.

The team will be on hand to answer any questions about plans for the new Arts Centre and begin taking events, hires and workspace enquiries. Book an appointment by emailing hello@hthartscentre.com.

As we look to the future of Hornsey Town Hall, we continue to tell its story, looking back at it's diverse and remarkable history...

Head down to the front of the building to admire the fantastic Hornsey Town Hall timeline which details the colourful history and fascinating story of a building that has been at the heart of Crouch End since the 1930s.
The timeline tells the story of HTH from the 1920s when Hornsey Council purchased a plot of land, to its design and construction in the 1930s and subsequent use as council offices.
Discover some fun facts including which iconic bands played at the Town Hall and which high-profile films and TV shows have used the building as a filming location.

Honouring the rich heritage and character of the building, the iconic architectural features found throughout Hornsey Town Hall will be lovingly restored and preserved.

Protective panels cover the listed external and interior features (see above), the timber panelling is being meticulously restored by hand, whilst the stonework and bronze balustrades in the main foyer are being repaired to resemble their original condition.
Art Deco features such as original parquet and terrazzo flooring, light fittings, signage, ironmongery, and metal detailing will be cleaned and polished, while the original clock system is being restored so that each of the building’s 73 clocks will be returned to full working order.

FEC, Ardmore and MAKE Architects are working very closely with Haringey Council and Historic England who are the public body that helps people care for, enjoy and celebrate England’s spectacular historic environment.
The HTH Arts Centre and TIME + SPACE Co teams wish you a very happy festive period and will be in touch with further updates on the restoration in the new year.
