  @jewl @CrouchEnd There is a sewing machine shop in Fortress Road by Tufnell Park tube that does repairs.

  @jewl @crouch_end not Crouch End but place in Stroud Green at top of Fonthill Rd (Tollington Park end). Take bus from CE, alight SG tesco.

The reason I've collected these Tweets is that I've recently done a bit of sewing, and discovered that all the sewing machines in the house are a bit iffy. This twitter trail very quickly led to what I guess is the shop known as both Mono and Mingo.

Given that the story had such a happy outcome this might well be somewhere to make a note of for the future. My recent sewing was  N8 related sewing and  I published the results. 

A possible downer is that the building looks ideal for being replaced with a block of flats
