Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information
Dear Resident, Partner
Dial-a-Ride is a free, door-to-door transport service for disabled people and over 85s, who live in London and can’t use buses, trains or the Tube.
We want to ensure that everyone who is eligible for Dial-a-Ride membership is aware of the service and can get the most out of it. We are contacting you to help us achieve this. We can distribute information about Dial-a-Ride, and visit groups to talk about the service and the benefits of becoming a member.
How Dial-a-Ride works
It is an ideal way to get out and about independently and membership is automatic for many disabled and older people. This includes:
People not automatically eligible can still apply for membership. Members request journeys, usually the day before they need to travel and we make every effort to accommodate as many of their requests as possible.
Our vehicles include accessible minibuses, people carriers and saloon cars. Most are wheelchair accessible, and many can also carry mobility scooters.
Improvements to the Dial-a-Ride Service
We have made several improvements to the service in recent years, including introducing new low floor minibuses. We have worked on improving Dial-a-Ride’s scheduling efficiency and, as a result, customer satisfaction is now running at more than 90 per cent. We will also be bringing in an easy-to-use online application form in 2013, to make applications for membership as straightforward as possible. We will continue our work to make sure members get the most out of the service.
Help your members find out more
We would like to come and talk to local groups about the benefits of membership and to discuss ways of improving the service. Please contact 0845 999 1 999 option 3 to arrange a Dial-a-Ride presentation for a group, to order some of our publicity flyers to distribute to your members, or to discuss using the attached article for your organisation’s newsletter.
Please visit www.tfl.gov.uk/dar to find out more.
We look forward to hearing from you.
