Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information
It's a bold claim to make, and the rest of the sentence reads "and across a swathe of North London" in the latest blog put out by The Crouch End Neighbourhood Forum.
Is that how Crouch End feels to you? When I hear "night time economy" what comes to mind are crowded city centres where young people wearing not quite enough clothes, tanked up on cheap supermarket booze, flaunt whatever it is they've got in a procession from one watering hole to the next. Putting on the agony, putting on the style. This even happens in Shrewsbury. Perhaps I lead such a sheltered life I've not seen it happening in Crouch End.
But Crouch End does have 102 licensed premises. Most of them do not qualify as 'night time', for example Marks and Spencers and the Co-op. But the CENF blog identifies 45 places that do qualify, compared to Muswell Hill's 31. Which is why the CENF has asked that Crouch End be classified NT3, same as Muswell Hill, in the table at the end of this Annex to the London Plan.
