Consultation on the expansions of Belmont Infant and Belmont Junior Schools, Lancasterian and Welbourne Primary Schools

Cabinet Report

The Council’s Cabinet met on the 20 December 2011 and agreed the recommendation to proceed to publish statutory notices on the proposed expansion of the following schools:

1. Belmont Infant School
2. Belmont Junior School
3. Lancasterian Primary School
4. Welbourne Primary School

Notices

• The notices will be published on the 9 January 2012 and a four week consultation period will follow. 

Three public meetings will be held on the following dates:

The Council is consulting on a possible expansion of Belmont Infant and Junior Schools, Lancasterian and Welbourne Primary Schools. Each school would increase in size from its current two forms of entry a year to three forms of entry.

We are considering expansion because demand for places in and around the ward remain high, and projections overall for Haringey show a continuing rise in primary numbers. We need to plan accordingly to ensure that we have sufficient primary places to meet demand. The annual School Place Planning Report is available to view on our school place planning page. The report provides more detail on the way that we plan to ensure that there enough school places to meet demand.

We will use the results of this consultation to help inform the decision on whether we expand any of these schools. Any expansion would provide additional school places from September 2013 onwards.
