Park Road Leisure Centre is changing.
Refurbishment work is due to begin in the autumn on the centre, which will see the indoor pool refurbished, the lido improved and a complete overhaul of the changing rooms.
The gym will be expanded, while an all-new spa and four new studios will be created – as well as a moveable floor being installed for the diving pool to allow more flexible use. The facilities should stay open during the work.
Haringey Council’s new contractor for the centre, Fusion Lifestyle, will be running ‘meet the manager’ sessions for users of the centre last night and the day before evening.
Sorry about that - I must have missed the invitation
Haringey Council struck the 20-year deal with Fusion Lifestyle last year in a move that will save taxpayers an estimated £500,000 per year.
I gather from the various swimming teachers my kids have that the diving pool will be the first to be improved starting in the Autumn which will give them time to find a new diving teacher having managed to lose both of them since the new management came in. Clearly not bothering to capitalise on the 2012 legacy there. The teaching pool will be next and then the main pool. Personally I wish they would do the woeful changing rooms first and employ more cleaners.
