Bulky item removal charges introduced - is this a coincidence?

Yesterday as I crossed Middle Lane I saw a couple apparently about to load a big grey fridge onto a van. Today as I walked down Fairfield Road I saw a big grey fridge. It might be a different fridge, but it is probably there, probably because of the introduction of charges to remove bulky refuse. In this case Haringey will save no money at all, as, sooner or later, someone, maybe me, will report the fridge to the dumped rubbish team, and we will pay them over the odds to pick it up.

I contrast the bulky items charge (with likely effects) with an extra £40,000 passed from Haringey Council to a favoured, licensed restaurant (ChickenTown), making a total of £340,000 in grants and a soft loan spent on the restaurant.

By way of Members Enquiry, I have asked how much the Council is prepared to spend on their pet project that does not have the prospect of success. In my opinion, it never did and it never will.

Even if it had an extra fridge.
