Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information
We are planning a couple more volunteering days in Stationers Park this weekend 10 am - noon both Saturday and Sunday.
Yes I know it's been freezing this week but the forecasters say it's going to get warmer and sunnier for the weekend.
The good news is that the bulbs and plants that the council gave us for the park have arrived.
The bad news is that there are many hundreds of them - far too many for Linda, myself and our long-suffering husbands to cope with; we need help!
The great news is that we can all look forward to a riot of colour in the park next Spring!!
This activity is particularly good for children as they can get close to nature and observe the fruits of their labour in a relatively short time. Plus they're closer to the ground..!
As ever, there are also many maintenance tasks for the adults - weeding, cutting down various saplings and brambles and pruning back of shrubs. In fact, something for everyone, regardless of your age or level of gardening skills.
If you, your children or your dog use the park, please give some of your time to help make this convenient, green space beautiful and safe. All welcome (especially children); this is a great opportunity to meet some of your lovely neighbours and to create a better community :)
Remember, we meet Saturday and Sunday, 2nd and 3rd December, from 10 am until 12 noon at the lower pond. Please bring gloves, secateurs, shears and especially digging tools if you have them. If enough people sign up we will bring some hot chocolate to warm us up.. We look forward to seeing you!
