Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information

From Twitter

Independent burger maker Muddy Boots refused partnership with Tesco. Instead, will launch own shops, first opening in Crouch End Feb 2014.

And here is corroboration of James's tweet about Muddy Boots burgers in Crouch End from the Telegraph. To quote from the article, which does sound very us:

With this chain of new shops, the Ballards plan to bring back the traditional high street butcher shop, with a modern twist. “There will be no hanging carcasses and blooded white,” said Ms Ballard. “This is a modern meat shop.

“We’ll have longer opening hours, and we’ll serve wine and charcuterie in the evenings. We’ll have a fresh lunch menu every day and our products will mostly be packaged with the use-by date and cooking instructions, rather than out in slabs of meat. We’re not actually competing with traditional butchers, we’re competing with the supermarkets,”

At the moment, the site for the first one (Crouch End, North London) is a Dixy Chicken. It needs a little imagination and a lot of work but we're incredibly excited about this move and can't wait to open in the New Year.

Dixy is back on the market - maybe Muddy Boots have changed their minds

Indeed. I understand the Muddy Boots people are looking at other available sites (in Crouch End).

If it's of interest Adrian, we ran a piece about this in October and Miranda from Muddy Boots stopped by to comment. She left her contact details if anyone wants to follow up to find out what's happening.

It's all gone quite quiet on this front! Also, it looks like work on both Bouga and Honeymoon has ceased. Obviously, both premises contained lots of expensive surprises. Shame as they're both pretty big units.

Apparently, Muddy Boots is hoping to exhange keys in mid-Jan, with the aim of opening in March...I think/hope.
