Connecting Crouch End and Hornsey with news, views and information

Another Haringey consultation carefully designed to bring the answer they want

And I've had an email from Living Streets Haringey urging me to participate.

But the only possible outcome from the consultation is that an area be turned into a Low Traffic Neighbourhood with a Cycle Route and possibly a School Street. That is already the view that the self selecting group of respondents has provided for Crouch End

and for Harringay, and one can only imagine for every other ward/area. This is a consultation that will provide a mass of data but no information at all.

Dear Adrian,

We hope you are well. A few key important updates from our side:
Haringey needs Your Suggestions Now!

The council put out a statement yesterday outlining some of the work on cycling networks, pavement widening, low traffic neighbourhoods and school streets. As part of this the council are encouraging residents to share their ideas on street improvements through a newly launched Commonplace Map (external link) – an interactive map that will allow residents and business owners to identify cycle routes and low traffic neighbourhoods to assist social distancing in the borough.

Residents can also email suggestions to: smarter.travel@haringey.gov.uk. Plans are being drawn up now so it’s incredibly important that we act swiftly on this.

If there are changes you want to see in the borough, we would highly recommend that you:
Local Groups

A reminder, since Haringey Living Streets started last year, we have had a number of local groups form to champion healthy streets. We’d really encourage people to engage with their local groups, or to form one if you haven’t already got one in your neighbourhood.

So far groups include:
  • Alexandra Ward
  • St Ann’s Ward
  • Bruce Grove
  • Duckett’s Common
  • Stroud Green
We also have some very active members in Crouch End and Harringay ward who are keen to engage with others. Please email us if you would like to be put in touch.
Cleaner Air

There is a Haringey Climate Action Forum next Thursday (11th June) to discuss transport. We would strongly recommend joining the meeting if you have questions about Haringey’s Emergency Transport Plans.

We will be attending and representing Haringey Living Streets on the discussion.  Zoom details are included below:
  • Topic: Haringey Climate Forum
  • Time: Jun 11, 6:00 PM London
  • Join Zoom Meeting (Link)
As always please share our newsletter signup link (here) with friends and neighbours who might be interested. You can also connect with our community on our Facebook and Twitter pages.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please do get in touch with us directly.
Best wishes,
